Betty L. Hannah, 90, of New Castle, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Snyder Nursing Home. Betty was born on November 3, 1925 in Oriskany, Va. and was the daughter of the late Edward R. Loudermilk and Jean McAlphin Loudermilk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Jack Hannah; a sister, Harriett Hannah; two brothers-in-law, Bill Hannah and Ralph Necessary, and a niece, Cindy Gipson. She is survived by her son, Steve Hannah and wife Ellen; her daughter, Kathy Smith and husband Ken; two grandchildren, Danielle Smith and Mark Smith; a sister, Eleanor Necessary, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Snyder Nursing Home for the wonderful care Mom received over the past two years. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at New Castle United Methodist Church. The Rev. Emory Tarpley will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
