Bertha "Bert" Spessard

Bertha "Bert" Spessard, age 72 of Salem, VA passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026. Prior to her illness she worked as a teacher's aide at Andrew Lewis Middle School. She was a fun and loving mother who loved her children and grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her mother, Belva (Biddle) Porter George. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Paul Daniels of Salem, VA and daughter, Stacy Wright (Alan) of Tennessee; grandchildren, Owen and Alaina; friend and Pastor Twila Briscoe.

A service to celebrate Bert's life will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Twila Briscoe will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
