Benjamin Coy Daugherty

Benjamin (Benny) Coy Daugherty, 67, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2010. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. Professionally, he worked for Lucas Construction for 14 years as well as Wal-Mart for 5 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Daugherty; sister, Frances D. Gaylor; and brother, David Daugherty, Jr. His surviving family includes his father, David Daugherty, Sr.; wife of 19 years, E. Deborah Daugherty of Salem; son, William C. Daugherty and wife, Natasha; daughter, Amy Daugherty; stepdaughter, Candace Long and husband, John; stepsons, Richard Kile and wife, Jenean, and David Webster; 13 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Wayne Daugherty and wife, Brenda, Peggy Wertz and husband, Ferman, and Glenn Daugherty; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Duke. A visitation will be held in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. as well as from 6 to 7 p.m. After which, a funeral service will begin.
