Barry Wayne Guthrie

Barry "Pete" Guthrie Jr., 46, of Check, Virginia, was called home on Friday, August 9, 2024. Born on October 27, 1977, Pete was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Mae Guthrie; great-grandmother, Virginia Maxey; grandparents, Judith and Lloyd Arnold Sr., as well as many others.

Pete is survived in death by his father, Barry W. Guthrie Sr.; sisters, Angie M. Slater (Scott) and Jamie L. Boynton (Michael); nieces and nephews, Samantha Hartman (Brandon) and Caleb Slater; great-niece, Rylie Mae Hartman, and a multitude of extended family and friends.

The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will be held the following day, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Whitlock officiating. Interment immediately following in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, Va.
