Barbara A Stump

Barbara Anne Edwards Stump, 69, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013. Barbara was born in Roanoke County, a daughter to the late Johnson and Eva Edwards. She was a life long area resident, a graduate in the class of 1962 from Andrew Lewis High School, a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was a member of FT. Lewis Baptist Church, known to many as a strong fighter, she was a breast cancer survivor since 1987, along with her parents she was preceded in death by, her brother, George R. Edwards and a sister, Judy Edwards Switzer. Left to cherish her memories are, her loving husband of 51 years, Carl (Jackie) Jackson Stump Sr.; a daughter, Salena Kay Stump Poff and Chris; a son, Carl (CJ) Jackson Stump Jr.; sisters, Audrey Lynwood Edwards Ellis; Drucilla Ellen Edwards Spraker; and Linda Lee Edwards Consetto, a brother, James (JP) Edwards and wife, Pat, grand daughters, TaMara Dillon; Tressa Poff; Corryn Jade Speed Stump, and one great grand son, William Blayne Dillon, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel with the Reverend Leonard Southern officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Salem. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018.
