Barbara Quesenberry Sifford

Barbara Quesenberry Sifford, 76, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 14, 2015. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and loved caring for her loved ones and friends in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oden and Gladys Quesenberry; brother, Bob Quesenberry; and son, Russell Kern. Her surviving family includes her children, Jim Kern and wife, Angela, Lisa Carter and special friend, Ray Mitchell, Terri Dillard and husband, Glenn, Sherri Harris and husband, Jerry, and April Wade and husband, John; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine (Cricket) Smith, Jay Quesenberry and wife, Junko, Jerry Quesenberry and wife, Janice, and Betty Jean Huffman and husband, Ernest; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors at Ridgecrest. A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the funeral homes chapel with Chaplain Gary Kingery officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Mays-Kern Family Cemetery in Eagle Rock. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Richfield Retirement Community chapel at 3615 West Main Street in Salem, Va. 24153.
