Mrs. Barbara Perdue Halley, 85, was born in Roanoke, Virginia on July 19, 1935 to Mr. James Dee Perdue and his wife Mrs. Willie Cromer Perdue. After a long illness, she passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 27, 2021. After graduating from Roanoke High School, she attended and graduated from the National Business College and was employed for several years as a legal secretary. In the 1970s she was hired by the Foreign Science and Technology Center (FSTC), in Charlottesville, Virginia. She continues to work for FSTC after they later became part of the National Ground Intelligence Center. She retired from federal service and moved with her husband to Fluvanna County, where she resided until her death. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, John Bennett Halley II; daughter, Julie Miller Strategos of Sea Brook, SC; stepchildren, David Halley of Holly Springs, NC, Andrew Halley of Harrisonburg, VA, and Sharon Kilpatrick of Haymarket, VA. Barbara will be laid to rest in her family plot following a private service on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, VA.
