Barbara R. Hale

Barbara R. Hale Barbara R. Hale, 89, of Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bud Hale, her parents, Grady and Effie Robertson, late of Giles County, three sisters, Opal Woodyard, Cuba R. Little and Alva R. Meadows, and two brothers, Grady Bunt Robertson and Maynard Robertson. She was a very active member of Central United Methodist Church where she served as Trustee, was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Builders Sunday School Class and served in the kitchen for over 50 years. Her love of serving others will be a memory so many can share. She worked at the Celanese Plant in Narrows before moving to Salem where she raised her children and helped to raise each of her grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Randall D. Sarver and his wife Cindy; two daughters, Nancy H. Harris and her husband Dennis, Marcella H. Jordan and her husband Butch; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church. The Revs. Kristen Holbrook and Elwood Carwile will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends beginning at 11AM, for two hours prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund, 428 S. College Ave, Salem, VA 24153.
