Annie Lucille Hitt

Annie Lucille Hitt, 86, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 2, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy Edward and Roxie Ruth Baker; husbands, Walter (Biggen) Basham, Sr. and Merry (Jack) Hitt; granddaughter, Wendy Basham; and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Holliday. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Shelia Bartlett and husband, Jerry; son, Walter (Benny) Basham, Jr. and wife, Jenny; siblings, James Baker, Clarence Baker and wife, Carolyn, and Colleen Sarver and husband, Virgil; grandchildren, Vonda Brown, Tammy Scaggs, Christi Holliday, and Robert Basham; and 15 great-grandchildren. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. The Rev. Don Woodward will officiate.
