Annie McCray Cupp, 89, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2013. She was born on December 15, 1923 in Salem to the late Henry Jackson and Sennie Jones McCray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Lute Cupp; son, James Robert Cupp; grandson, Michael James Cupp; six brothers, Bob, Nathan, Fred, Carl Friday, Henry Heck, and Preston McCray; three sisters, Sarah Lizzie Thomas, Glenna Mowles, and Alice Hatcher. Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Susan Crawford and husband, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Barbara Cupp; grandchildren, Jeff Cupp and wife, Tina; Brandon Cupp and wife, Melissa; Carol Zirkle and husband, John; Dustin Cupp; and James Crawford and fiance, Trish Roberson; great-grandchildren, Troy, Bethany, Haley, Brayden, and Hayden; special friend, Marlene DeLung; and numerous special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Annie was a lifelong area resident, a member of Southside Baptist Church in Salem, and a member of the LOA Diners Club of Salem, for many years helping to serve lunch. Annie was a loving and devoted caretaker for her family and friends. Everyone she has ever touched was truly blessed. Annie will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends along her lifes journey. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of 3 West at Richfield Care & Recovery Center, the staff of Ridgecrest at Richfield where she was a long time resident, and the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice Care for their care, compassion, and support. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 6 until 9 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on October 8, 2013 at 9 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
