Ann (Annie) Elizabeth Farmer Oliver, 92, of Roanoke, departed this life to be with the Lord on Monday, July 30, 2012. She was born on November 17, 1919, the daughter of the late Mary E. Riggs Farmer and Charles Otey Farmer. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ethel Bert Farmer and Clarence Snyder; and sisters, Grace Altice and Bertha Snyder Niece. Ann is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Charlie L. Oliver; daughter, Charlotte Oliver Harless and husband, Kennith; grandchildren, Mark Harless and wife, Marcie, and Darrell L. Harless; great-grandchildren, Andrew Harless, Courtney Harless, and Rachel Harless; along with many nieces and nephews. Ann was a graduate of Eggleston High School. There, she excelled in basketball and softball. During her 92 years, she lived her life in service to God, her family, and others. She was a member of Garden City Nazarene Church for 60 years and touched many children by her love and care while teaching Sunday School for many years. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel with Pastor Steve Gordon officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
