Ann Ellyn Draper deOlazarra, 85, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Maurice deOlazarra and her treasured parents, George William Draper and Pearle Irene Van Dyke Draper. She is survived by her adored little sisters, Georgenia Draper Compton, Theda Draper Blackwelder and several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Brenda (Ronnie) Musgrove, all of whom she loved dearly. Ann was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Salem. She belonged to P.E.O. sisterhood and Delta Kappa Gamma International Teachers Society. Ann taught in the Roanoke City schools for many years. Her students were her pride and joy. Helping them learn and grow in knowledge and confidence was her calling and delight.
A public interment will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Sherwood Memorial Park; 1250 E. Main Street, Salem where bagpipes will be played in her honor.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., at St. Pauls Episcopal Church; 42 E. Main Street, Salem, with the Rev. James W. Lively and Rev. Dr. David Dixon officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
