Anita Carter

Anita Fleming Carter, 90 of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. She was born on December 21, 1931, to the late Conrad Heath and Nora Hicks Fleming. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reese Jackson Jack Carter; granddaughter, Jennifer Carter; brothers, Kurt Fleming and Gene Fleming. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karen Carter of Sarasota, Fl, Mark Carter (Priscilla), Pam Carter, Tracy Carter Regal, and Jill Carter Cobb all of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Carter, Jessica Fitzgerald, Patrick Regal, and Jackson Cobb; step-grandchildren, Scott Neff, John Neff, Brenda Vess Campbell; several great-grandchildren; and her first great-great-grandson; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Carter. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the funeral home.
