Angela Michelle Akers, 41, of Salem, put on her flip-flops for one final time on Saturday, March 30, 2013 and joined her beloved dog, Abby, in Heaven after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her mother, Marlene Gaye Littrell and Daddy Dave Thomas of Salem; stepbrother, Kirk Littrell of Roanoke; uncles, Michael Anderson of Craig County, Malcolm Anderson and wife, Nola, of Eden, NC, Marty Anderson of Craig County, and Charles Littrell of Salem; aunt, Marilyn Arthur and husband, Kermit, of Craig County; special great aunt, Eloise Earnest of Salem; many cousins; and a host of friends, especially her co-workers at U.S. Foods.
Angela filled her life with family, friends, traveling, sightseeing, and shopping. Her favorite season was Fall because of all the beautiful Autumn colors. Angela's passion for animal rescue was seen in her home and in the love she bestowed on Abby, Bella, and MooSho, her beloved dogs, all of which she rescued. Angela greeted everyone with a loving smile which she continued to do throughout her battle.
