Andrew Stephen "Andy" Burton

Andrew Stephen Burton, 55, of Salem, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. Andy was known for being a hardworking man, as well as being well respected by his friends and community. His family was his world, and his love was without question, especially to whom he considered his greatest accomplishments, his children. An avid reader, he would spend countless hours reading books, working with computers, or wood working. Andy has no doubt left an impression on the hearts of many people and will deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Maurice and Pauline Smith, Elmer and Sylvatus Burton; as well as his father, Robert Lee Burton. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of over thirty years, Melanie Lynne Burton; mother, Judith Catharine Smith Burton; son, Matthew Scott Burton; daughters, Rebecca Erin and Maigen Grace Burton; and last but not least his best friend and dog, Amelia. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous other family members and dear friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem. Andy will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park immediately following the service. Pastor Bobby Pickle will be officiating.
