Amos Donald Puckett, 70, of Salem passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at his home after a battle with lung cancer. He was born July, 7, 1940 to the late Lewis Edward Puckett and Emma Underwood Puckett. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eli Puckett and Ernest Puckett. He is survived by his fianc, Sandra Robinson who stood by his side, brother Mitchell Edward Puckett of Rocky Mount; Three sisters, Helen Beckner of Roanoke, Margie Watts of King George, Va., and Linda Smith of Shawsville; two sisters-in-law, Rosa Puckett of Charleston, S.C. and Marla Puckett of Pueblo, Co; five children, Donald & wife Rachelle Puckett, Hunter & wife Kim Puckett, Joyce Puckett Frazier, Tonya Levis, Sonya & Jeffery Pedilla; sixteen grandchildren; seven nieces, and six nephews. Mr. Puckett served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the American Legion. A life member of the Fraternal order of Roanoke Moose, a member of the N.C. Beach Buggy Association, a dedicated member of the NRA, and an avid Racing fan. Mr. Puckett Retired from General Electric after 33 years of service. He also retired from the city of Salem with over 30 years of dedicated service. Amos greatly loved his family and will be missed, and as Amos would say, Time dont wait on you! Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.
