Alvin Clyde Lambert, 83, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord and to be reunited with Darlene on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born on September 28, 1936 in Bluefield, W. Va. to the late Lockard Sheffey and Willie Madeline Champ Lambert. Alvin enlisted and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves in his early teens. On January 3, 1958, he married the love of his life, Darlene Ruble, and by 1959 they had started their little family with the birth of their first born, Cheri Lynn. Alvin became employed with Mick or Mack stores and remained for 24 years until their closing. He then gave another 16 plus years of dedicated service to Lowes hardware prior to his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors and was certainly known for giving everyone he could a hard time, playing of course. Alvin never met a stranger! Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will be missed! In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Edna Darlene Lambert; six brothers; one sister; and his loving dog, Pepper. Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his daughters, Cheri Lynn Lambert, Linda Diane Weddle and husband, Dexter, and Lisa Faye Lambert, all of Salem; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Jr. Bousman, and numerous other friends; and his loving poodle, Buddy.
