Alexandra Edith (Goodes) Zmudka, 73, of Salem, Va., but formerly of Wausau, Wis., Des Plaines, Ill., and Largo, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2023. Alexandra, also known as Alex or Sandy to family and close friends, was born on May 6, 1950, in New York, N.Y., to the late Paul and Elizabeth Edgar Goodes. Autumn was Alexandras favorite time of the year. She loved the brisk, fall weather, the changing leaves and cheering for her favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers. She greatly enjoyed the art of photography, both admiring captured photos and capturing photos herself. To Alexandra, rest and relaxation looked like getting lost in an enjoyable book or vacationing with family and friends. She was a Christian of the Lutheran denomination and when her children were young, served as a youth leader. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and sharing with them delicious meals and desserts she had prepared. Alexandra made furry friends easily as she loved animals, especially cats. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel (Jodi) Zmudka, Robert Zmudka, and Nicole (Chris) Brown; grandchildren, Taylor Zmudka, Jamie Zmudka, Danika Zmudka, Ali Brown and Callen Brown; brother, Dennis Goodes, as well as her beloved cat, Tinsel; beloved dog, Annie; and beloved parrots, Moses, Jake, and Packer. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Friendship Health and Rehab, specifically 3 Main, Good Samaritan Hospice and Ellis Senior Care for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Alexandra and their family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Roanoke Valley SPCA. All services will be private. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.johnmoakey.com. Service Details.
