Wendy Floyd Serber passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at her home in Dixie Caverns, Virginia on Monday, March 28, 2011. Born on November 13, 1954, she was the daughter of Geraldine F. Irvine and the late Ralph L. Floyd and stepdaughter of the late Walter L. Irvine of Poplar Hill, Lexington VA. Wendy graduated from Lexington High School in 1973 and the Virginia Banker's School of Bank Management from the University of Virginia in 1989. She managed the (Wachovia) Wells Fargo Bank in Natural Bridge, VA for many years before moving to the (Wachovia) Wells Fargo Bank in Charlottesville, VA. She loved cooking, reading, gardening, painting, quilting, and nature. Wendy supported Key Living Options for individuals with mental illnesses and intellectual deficits in Salem, VA as well as the Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation. Wendy will be remembered for her spirited personality and love of life. We will miss her dearly. Wendy is survived by her husband, Charles D. Serber; a son, Carl Francis Miller, III (Bo) and wife, Lindsey, of Salem, VA; stepson, Charles Lucas Serber and wife, Karen, of Columbia, SC; brother and partner, Phil Floyd and John Ong of Staunton, VA; brother, Jack Floyd of Lexington, VA; sister, Amy Irvine McKemy of Lexington, VA; sister-in-law, Lyla Serber of Vidalia, GA; brother-in-law, William Serber, Jr. of Ocean City, NJ; beloved grandsons, Chase and Carder; granddaughter, Kate; and two nephews, Miles and Graham. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for Wendy's life be made to the Saint Francis of Assisi Service Dog Foundation at PO Box 19538 in Roanoke, Virginia 24019.
