James Patrick Edwards, 29, of Elliston, Va., passed on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Preceding him in death was his step-grandfather, William (Bob) Gross; grandmother, Pauline (Mamaw) Alley; aunt, Diane Harmon; uncle, Alfred (Junior) Edwards; and cousin, Jason Edwards. His surviving family includes his parents, Michael and Patricia Edwards; siblings, Michael Edwards, Jr. and wife, Janice, Kimberly Shockley and husband, Ryan, and Jeremy Edwards; grandparents, Susie Gross and Fred Alley; uncles and aunts, Homer Edwards and Bobbie Miller, Robert Edwards and Rebecca (Shannon) Niece, Patricia Hooker, Lisa Edwards and Wesley Thompson, Brenda Alley, Tina and Paul Dowdy, Dwight (Doug) Alley, Fred Alley (JR) and Pam (Faye); 3 nieces and 4 nephews; 14 first cousins; and many other cousins and family members. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem.
