Obituary for William Clayton Lemon

William “Bill” Lemon, 92, of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Richfield Recovery and Care, in Salem.
He was born on June 5, 1928, son to the late Pete and Rose Yapp Lemon, in Roanoke County, Va.
Bill was well known for his love card games, and he certainly may be found watching westerns on tv when he wasn’t working or messing around outside. He will be remembered most for his love for family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 26 years, Ella Jane Trail Lemon; daughter, Martha Jane Pierce; sons-ins law, David Wayne Pierce and Billy Radford; great-granddaughter, Courtney Short; and numerous siblings.

Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his children, Mary Libby Walters (John), Patsy Jean Radford, and Buddy Lemon (Donna); 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 26, 2020, from 6 until 8 p.m. John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem.
Funeral services honoring his life will be conducted on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park, also in Salem.
