Thomas Worth Moore, 79, of Salem, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021.
Thomas was a devoted Christian man whom you would often find studying theology and visiting with people of other religions and denominations comparing his research. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Salem. A proud graduate of Virginia Tech he received a bachelor’s degree in project mechanical engineering. He was also a Charter member of the A.K.E Paternity. Thomas will be deeply missed by all who loved and admired him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Lancaster & Vincent Wingfield Moore; two sisters, Lynn Moore Headley and Nancy Moore Chapman; as well as his first wife, Gloria Gaulding Moore.
Left to cherish his memory is his former wife, Judith Lynette Townsend; children, Anissa Lynn Moore Runde, Michael Vincent Moore, and Thomas O'Brien Moore; grandchildren, Noah Garrison Moore, Alexandra Elizabeth Runde, Jacob Moore, and Robert Scott Runde; brothers-in-law, T.J. Headley and George Chapman; daughters-in-law, Eun Min Moore (Michael) and Julia McIntosh (Thomas); and son-in-law, Stephen Charles Higmsith (Anissa).
Thomas’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held immediately following at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Dan Netting will be officiating.
