Obituary for Suzanne Mason "Sue" Howell (Mason)

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, Suzanne “Sue” Mason Howell, 69, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with many loved ones, including her husband of 49 years, Floyd Howell. With Floyd by her side, they operated Floyd and Sue’s Barbershop that served the Salem area for 40 plus years.

Sue was born on June 12, 1952, in Salem, Va., daughter of the late Wilbur and Anne Kelly Mason. She greatly enjoyed and dearly loved her family, especially her grandkids Tyler and Hailey. She enjoyed helping others and was a friend to anyone she met. She took great joy in helping any and everyone around her. Yard sales and Goodwill shopping was always a must, and her love for animals was evident to anyone that knew Sue.

Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Jennifer Cameron, of Roanoke; grandson, Tyler Cameron, (Amber) of Roanoke; granddaughter, Hailey Ellis of Vinton; daughter, Angela Ellis of Roanoke; daughter, Pam Meadows (Ronnie); son, Steve Howell of Roanoke; sister, Kim Bell (Michael), of Roanoke; brothers, Tom Mason (Natalie) and family, of Chicago, Illinois, Randy Mason (Maureen) and family, of Avon Lake, Ohio; special cousin, Mary K., (Billy) of Daleville; and her devoted and loving companions, her pets, “Destiny” and “Daphne.” Many numerous nieces, nephews, other close family members, and friends also survive.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be announced at a later date.
