Sherman Douglas Williams, Sr., 64, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at his home.
He was born on October 19, 1955, in Salem, to the late Doug and Delma Roberts Williams.
Sherman was a graduate from Glenvar High School. He later became employed with G.E. Electric as a painter, where he would remain until his retirement 27 years later. His skill for painting was evident in the numerous 57 Chevy’s, and other vehicles, he had restored over the years, and he was sure to drive them after and did not believe in brakes. Sherman loved fast cars! He certainly enjoyed a good time and was known for telling a good story. He made numerous friends, as well as a few enemies over the years, and although he may not have expressed it like most father’s do, he loved his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Williams, and sister, Linda Hodge.
Family remaining to cherish his memory include his sons, Sherman Douglas Williams, Jr., and Matthew Luke Williams; grandchildren, Desiree Williams, Hailey Williams, and Bethany Williams; sister, Judy Cook; mother of his children, Nancy Alderman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, all services will be private.
