Obituary for Roger Andre Boucher

Roger Andre Boucher, 73, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

Roger was a man of incredible intelligence and artistic abilities. His laugh and smile were both infectious, constantly making jokes, and even though they may have been corny at times you could not help but burst into laughter. An extremely talented poet, he could make up a poem on the spot, no matter the situation or occasion. A cherished and loving husband, father, and Pepere, it was no secret his family was his pride and joy. He loved wholeheartedly without hesitation and would go out of his way with generosity to help someone in need. During his younger years, he served in the United States Army as a Sharpshooter, then went on to get his Jurist Doctorate Degree and became a successful attorney specializing in Corporate Law. He was a lifelong devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for over forty years, where he became a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. If there was something, he would be remembered for other than the traits already listed, it would be the fact that he was a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan. On game day it was not uncommon to hear him yelling at players or cheering them along as if he were seated right there in the stadium. Roger will indeed be deeply missed however he has left behind a legacy of love, humor, faith, and educational aspirations to be carried on by his family for generations to come.

Roger is Preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Edward D. Boucher II; brother, Edward D. Boucher III.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty years, JoAnn Boucher; daughters, Kimberly Furnish (Mark), and Marie Patterson (Michael); brothers, Peter and Gerald Boucher; grandchildren, Isaac Furnish, as well as Michael Jr. and Ashley Patterson; sister-in-law, Pamela Boucher; also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Salem, VA. A committal service with military honors will be held at St. Andrews Diocesan Cemetery in Roanoke. Father Ken Shuping will be officiating.
