Obituary for Robert Lee "Hookie" Robertson
Robert Lee Robertson, 86, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He also coached Little League baseball, and was a machinist by trade at Ingersoll Rand. He also was a veteran in the US Army specializing in guided missiles.
Preceding him in death were his loving wife, Patricia “Patty P” Robertson; his father and mother, Herbert and Gladys Robertson; brother, Johnny Robertson; and sisters, Jeanie Robertson and Fay Richardson.
His surviving family include sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Powell and Carolyn Cunningham; son, Kevin Robertson and wife, Sherrie; granddaughter, Kelsie Robertson; and nephews, nieces, and many other close family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 7, 2022, from 12 to 2 p.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
