Obituary for Robert Gordon "Bud" Price

Robert “Bud” Gordon Price, 81, of Salem, Virginia, was surrounded by his wife and children when he left to meet the Lord on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

In 1957, Bud finished at Pearisburg High School to join the United States Air Force in 1958. During his 8 years of service, he and Ann lived in Illinois, Louisiana, England, and Texas. After leaving service, he continued working for the federal government at Norfolk Naval Station. In 1972, he and his family returned to the Roanoke Valley where he worked at the Veterans Administration in Salem and later the U.S. Postal Service in Roanoke. He retired in 2001 with over 40 years of federal service. Not one to sit still for long, he drove a Glenvar school bus route for five years in retirement.

Bud and Ann met as high schoolers, married in 1957, and went onto have three children, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. His love for Ann and devotion to their family was central in his life. Bud lived as an example to his family through his active membership to Living Well Church of the Nazarene. If he was not supporting his family at sporting events or dance recitals, he enjoyed following NASCAR and the PGA Tour.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Carl Price, Jr.; mother, Ella Mae Price; aunt and mother figure, Faye Price; sister, Loretta Willig; grandson, Haven Tanner Price; great-grandson Robert Peanut Price; and great-granddaughter, Rowan Lee Price.

Bud is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 64 years, Ann Price; uncle and special father figure, Roscoe “Jack” Jackson Price; children, Robert Bryan (Nancy) Price, Lisa (Mike) Moeller, and Brad (Kathleen) Price; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ron) Halahan, Robert Scott (Mandy) Price, David Moeller, Jonathan (Rebekah) Price, Elizabeth (Kyle) Lawrence, Jessica Wilson, and Riley Price; and great-grandchildren, Emory Price, Jude Lawrence, Parker Wilson, Mackenzie Price, Asher Lawrence, Naomi Lawrence, Isabelle Price, and Jackson Halahan.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Living Well Church of the Nazarene located at 4335 West Main Street in Salem, Va. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 - also at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Steve Parker will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Living Well Church of the Nazarene Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
