Obituary for Richard Clayton Doyle

Richard Clayton Doyle, 80, of Roanoke, VA fell asleep in death, Monday, December 12, 2022, with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Pete Doyle and Elizabeth Coleman Long; and brother Raymond Doyle. He is survived by his loving wife Sue R. Doyle; adoring daughter, Kathy Doyle Harness and her husband, Dale; sister, Jane Owens, niece Sheree Covey (Arnold); great niece, Carmen Mutispaugh; great nephew, Brandon Covey (Emily); nephew, Rudy Dowdy (Terri Gross); great niece, Trista Dowdy; five great-great nieces and one great-great nephew as well as many cousins; special family Charlene and Brady Furrow and Brenda LaPrade as well as many long-time friends. He was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness for 57 years. His love of Jehovah directed his life which he used to show kindness, love, and give a good hug to those he met. He enjoyed being able to share his hope to anyone who he met. He had the joy of doing it full time at one point. As a father, husband, and friend he demonstrated what God’s love means. He was always loving, kind, and quick with a smile. He was the best daddy anyone could have and tried to be one to anyone who needed it. He adored his wife of 56 years calling her, “woman of his youth, mother of his child and love of his life.” His hope was sure, and he looked forward to Jehovah’s promises in paradise. Although he will be missed, we know he is in Jehovah’s memory. The family will welcome friends December 16, 2022, from 3 pm-5 pm at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A memorial service will be held January 7, 2023, at 3pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 2241 Mill Lane, Salem. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
