Obituary for Rebecca Jane "Becky" Woody (Harmon)

Rebecca Jane (Becky) Woody, 62, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at her home in Salem. She was born on October 25, 1956 in Catawba, Va. to the late George Samuel and Melva Grace Kirk Harmon.
When it’s all said and done, a mother can never be replaced. Becky had a rich and intense personality, and whatever she felt, it was expressed with intensity. There was no guessing with Becky... you knew exactly how she felt. Most of the time, it was loving with a genuine interest in others. She would look to the needs of her family and friends and would care for those problems as if they were her own. She was tough, so she was often looked at as the backbone of the family. But, even the greatest among us are at the mercy of their bodies. Her abilities and talents were many, but they were never fully established due to health reasons. To say the very least, she was an extraordinary lady and she will be missed!
In addition to her parents, mom was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Michael Harmon and Garland Harmon; and her sisters, SueAnne Robinson and Betty Gayle Harmon.
Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Juanita Woody; sons, Mikaell Mays and wife, Rhapsody, and Calvin Muse Jr., all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Yasmin Woody, Malik Woody, Keia Wilson, Zy-air Muse, Shania Kasey-Mays, Miykael Mays, Elijah Mays, Malakiy Mays, and Zelia Mays, all of Roanoke; brother, George“Roger” Harmon Jr. of Salem; and her niece, Sarah Stasko of Roanoke.
Memorial services honoring our mother’s life will be conducted on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 4:30 pm in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
