Obituary for Nadine Carter Saul

Nadine Carter Saul, 92, of Salem, Virginia was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Nadine was born on April 30, 1930, in Portsmouth, Virginia and was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, Virginia.

Nadine had numerous interests, but she most enjoyed spending quality time with her son Larry. There wasn’t a dessert she didn’t like, and she loved decorating for all holidays, especially Christmas. Nadine was a very talented seamstress and worked locally for Skyline Cleaners for over 20 years. As a hobby, she enjoyed making small crafts and sharing her talents with others through these handmade gifts, as recently as last Christmas. She was an avid reader and would always ask someone to secure her favorite author’s latest book. For many years she enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC, with her sister and friends. Nadine enjoyed visiting with her family, including her “grand dogs,” Harlie and Yogi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maxie and Lucy Carter; brother, Herbert Carter, and sister, Peggy Carter. She is survived by her son Larry Saul (Terry); brother, Gene Carter (Linda); granddaughter, Christy Hale, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family gives special thanks to all the staff on the Blue Ridge Cottage floor at Richfield Living, where she resided, and to the nurses and staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 6 to 8 PM, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11 AM at the funeral home chapel. Chaplain Gary Kingery and Elder Tommy Price will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. An online guestbook is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
