Mildred Elizabeth Owens, 99, of Salem, Va., and formerly of Henderson, N.C., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 19, 2020.
She was a devoted member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed ministering for the Lord all her life.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Perry and Carrie Mitchell; husband, George Aster Owens; son, Bobby Owens, Sr.; sister, Lola Mae Amos; and son-in-law, B.G. Edwards.
Her surviving family includes her children, Betty Edwards and James Owens; sister, Pauline Edwards; grandchildren, Bobby Owens, Cathy Tabor and husband, Butch, Gill Edwards, and Keith Edwards; great-grandchildren, Angie Tabor, Jason Tabor, Josh Tabor, Danielle Peterson and husband, Mike, Alan Edwards, Victoria Poff, and Drew Edwards; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Viola Aldridge.
Special appreciation from the family is extended to Diane Guthrie and Kindred Hospice (New Century) for the love and care provided to Mildred.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020. A public memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
