Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 37 years, Vicki Surface, of Salem; two sons, Randy Surface, of Bedford, Va., and Brian Surface, of Salem; sister, Marguerite Seitz, and husband, Jerry, of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Teresa Ellis, and husband, Dwayne, of Salem, Kathy O’Neill, of Shawsville, Va., and Elsie Dunbar, of Hurt, Va.; two granddaughters, Morgan, of Pulaski, Va., and Shaylee Surface, of Bedford, Va.; best friends, Marvin and Evelyn Loyd, of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services to honor Mark’s life will be conducted on Friday, February 7, 2020, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Cameron Smith officiating. Military honors will be presented for his time served.
