Obituary for Luther David "Dave" Gordon

Luther David “Dave” Gordon, 64, of Hardy, Va., originally of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 19, 1956, in Roanoke, to the late Earnest E. and Evelyn Mae Long Gordon. After graduating from high school, Dave enlisted in the United States Navy, as a Communication Specialist, proudly serving for 4 years.
After his service, he became employed with Magic City Sprinkler, where he would climb the ranks and eventually retire as an estimator. Dave dedicated a faithful 30 plus years of service to the company and his clientele. During downtime, you may have found him touring on his bike, as he loved motorcycles. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time on the target range, as he was an avid gun enthusiast at one time. Dave was also known for his love of music and playing his guitar, but those who knew him best will remember him as a kind and generous man that always kept a smile upon his face.

Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his sister, Shirley DeWeese (Ronny), of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Dennis Gordon (Pam), of Rocky Mount, Va.; two nieces, Amanda DeWeese and Megan Holloway (Ryan); nephew, Adam Gordon (Leslie); three great nieces, Evelyn, Olivia, and Pearl Gordon; one great nephew, Marshall Holloway; and an incredibly special lady friend, Trish Artz.

Graveside services to honor Dave’s life will be conducted on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 2 p.m., at Sherwood Memorial Park, in Salem, with Rev. Adam Gordon and Rev. Terry Edwards officiating. In consideration of others, facial masks and social distancing will be required.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society, or The American Diabetes Association.
