Obituary for Katherine Lawson Lovern (Lawson)

Katherine Lawson Lovern, 90, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2020.

Katherine was a one of a kind type of woman. A dedicated true pentecostal who had no problem praising her savior whether that be singing hymns, or just spending a little time in prayer. She was blessed with four sons during her lifetime, whom she loved and cherish dearly. Known as a true “songbird”, she often would pass time by just simply singing along with the radio or CDs of good old fashion blue grass hymns. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privileged of knowing her sweet soul.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Stella Lawson; as well as two sons, Ted and Wayne Lovern.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Kenneth (Paula) and Ralph (Diane) Lovern; loving grandchildren, Kenneth Jr., Steven, Brian, Travis, and Tommy Lovern, as well as Fonda Gray; also left to cherish her memory are numerous dear friends and relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 9 – 10 am, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A graveside service will also be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at White Cemetery 3734 Allegany Springs Rd. Shawsville,VA 24162. Pastor Loraine Taylor will be officiating.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Richfield Care & Recovery for all of their, love, compassion, and exceptional care provided to Katherine the last ten years.
