Judy Ann Hickerson, 68, of Roanoke, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. She was born on Saturday, June 28, 1952, to the late Sherman and Juanita Hickerson. Judy dedicated her life to teaching, encouraging, and caring for children. She generously shared her love with so many children over the years as she helped them learn and grow. During her career, she worked as a paraprofessional at Greenvale Preschool and Glen Cove Elementary. Judy also worked as a nanny, caring for several sets of twins over the years. She also loved working in the church nursery at; Peters Creek Church of the Brethren in Salem, where she was a lifelong member, First United Methodist Church in Salem, and Calvary United Methodist Church in Salem. "Juju" loved watching "her babies" grow and cheered them on as they went off to school. Judy loved to sew, and she never met a stranger. She showered her family with the same generous joy and love. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Linda Hickerson Bayse of Auburn, AL, and Wanda Hickerson of Salem, VA; brothers, Paul Hickerson, Sr., and wife, Arber, and Joel “Trimmy” Hickerson and wife, Suzanne all of Salem; nieces and nephews, Justin Bayse, Jr., Allyson Miller, Paul “Pauley” Hickerson, Jr., Carson Hickerson, Madison “Madi” Hickerson, and Maggie Hickerson; grand niece and nephew, Haleigh Altice, and Kayden Miller.
