Obituary for Juanita Staton Doss

Juanita S. Doss, 77, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2021, from her home in Salem.

She was born on March 22, 1944, in Amherst County, Virginia, daughter of the late Olin Mason and Adell Burks Staton.
Prior to retiring, Juanita was employed with the Salem Walmart with 10 plus years of service. She enjoyed cooking and was certainly fond of her cooking shows. In addition to her family, Juanita enjoyed spending time with her good friend Brenda McDaniel, with whom numerous hours of conversation were shared. However, her granddaughter, Ashlyn, was always her favorite to spend time with, as she was “her world.”

In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Howard, Johnny, Larry, and Bobby Staton.

Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Kristie Bushman (John), of Roanoke; granddaughter, Ashlyn Bushman, of Roanoke; sisters, Frances West, of Lenoir, N.C., and Geneva Fuller (Bobby), of Lynchburg, Va.; nieces, Tammy Guthrie, Lisa Wood, Judy Warren, and Karen Blankenship; nephew, Barry West; and special friends, Brenda McDaniel and Norma Doss.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 9, 2021, at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, in Salem, from 6 until 8 pm. Social distancing and facial masks are required.

A graveside service to honor Juanita’s life will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 2 pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, in Roanoke.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Juanita’s honor to The American Diabetes Association.
