Obituary for Jeremiah Michael Lester

Jeremiah Michael Lester, 42, of New Castle, VA passed away on August 5, 2020.

Jeremiah was born on October 12, 1977 in Roanoke, VA and enjoyed living in the Blue Ridge Mountains his entire life. Jeremiah kept busy by working on cars, a hobby he loved and was good at. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent many nights quietly reading. He was often found assisting family and friends with projects around their home; always eager to help. His generous heart shone through by his acts of service to others and the giving of his time. There was a softness possessed by Jeremiah that was reserved for the most vulnerable populations. Jeremiah loved animals and found comfort in caring for them. He was kind and patient with the elderly intent on making sure they felt needed and loved.
Jeremiah is greatly missed by those who love him. Holiday dinners will never be the same without his smiling face at the end of the table enjoying a home-cooked meal and a large glass of sweet tea. Jeremiah was a loving and compassionate person. He never met a stranger and always made people feel at ease with his laughter. His family will continue to share stories and laugh at jokes once told by Jeremiah knowing his good-natured spirit will live on through those moments.

Jeremiah is survived by his mother, Linda Simmons (Roger); father, Michael Lester (Kathy); son, Andrew Lester; sister, Emily McConnell (Jim); nieces, Brighton, Catherine, and Quinn McConnell; as well as his step-sisters, Holly and Kelly Brickey; also left to cherish his memory is a special friend, Martha Surface, along with many aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020. lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Jeremiah to the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
