Obituary for Ian Scott Stroud

Ian Scott Stroud, 32, of Roanoke, VA gained his wings on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Finding the words to truly describe the special person Ian was not an easy task to fulfill. If you were to ask someone to describe him you would hear things such as a kind, warm-hearted, selfless, and most of all a true gentleman, who loved all people from all walks of life without judgment or a second thought. A gifted young man he was known for his artistic abilities, creative mind, with an extensive amount of music knowledge especially his favorite band “HIM”, to even every possible detail he could find about each band member. A lover of all animals, it was not uncommon for him to go out of his way to help an animal in need, even if it meant he would do without. A young soul who flew away too soon, Ian leaves behind countless memories, bright smiles, and laughter for his friends and family to remember him by. It is with no doubt he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin Walker Stroud and Dorothy Lee Ross; his aunt, Linda Blackwelder, and uncle, Bill Blackwelder.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Sue Ellen Stroud, David Walker Stroud and stepmother, Judith Seaver Stroud; brother, Benjamin David Stroud, and partner Joey; sister, Sara Francisca Alejandra Stroud; grandmother, Blanche Shuler Stroud; grandfather, Cornelius M. Ross “Red”;aunt, Edie Stroud; uncle, Robert Stroud; and last but not least his cherished dog, Bacchus; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

In accordance with Ian’s wishes, no public service will be held. A private celebration of Ian’s life will be held at a later date. Pastor Eddie Crabtree will be officiating.
