Alicia,
You will remember me as I was your next door neighbor on Ingal Blvd. for many years. Your mother was a dear,
dear person. She loved her dogs and was so concerned when they were not doing well. I remember that corner
of your back yard where some were buried. She was smart, gracious, kind. You, Alicia, was THE most important
person in her life. She loved you SO MUCH! We are all grateful for a life well lived among us. I also called the
Sparrows (William "Bill" and Gayle) and they were sad to hear the news of her passing. Gayle said they had come
by at Christmas, but you all were not at home. With heartfelt sympathy- Lila Wright Sullivan

Helen will always be one of my very favorite people. She brought me great joy, with her sweet doggies, her yummy desserts, and her charming personality. I'll not forget her fresh figs; she had nursed her fig tree for years into a prime producer. I respected her for having been a female executive at the VA when that was not common. Helen was an amazing lady!

This a such a beautiful picture of Mama Helen; just the way I remember her and always will. She always treated me like a daughter, just like my best friend Alicia. I know her loss will leave a whole in your hearts but I’m sure your wonderful memories will bring you much comfort. I spent a lot of time visiting and Mama Helen always wanted to feed me the whole time I was there. I would look up and she would be coming down the stairs with a platter of something scrumptious. When the YaYas, our girlfriend group that we called ourselves, went on our annual trip to Nags Head, she would send a huge basket of yummy homemade cookies and 7 layer bars with her daughter Alicia for us to share. She was so thoughtful. I will always remember her birthday celebration when she had us picked up in a limousine and taken to Hotel Roanoke for a wonderful dinner. She was a wonderful woman and I will miss her. Heaven has a wonderful new angel. I love you Mama Helen

I was not privileged to know Helen for long. She and I were members of the Women's Club at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Salem, VA. I was impressed with her and looked forward to seeing her at meetings and Sunday Mass. She, as well as your family, will be in my prayers.

Blessings and Peace,
Patricia Burke
