Obituary for Hattie Pearl Harrison (Sneed)

Hattie “Pearl” Harrison, better known as “Granny”, 87, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. Born on October 19, 1934, in Killarney, West Virginia to the late Phil and Mary Sneed, Pearl is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, James A. Harrison, Sr.; son-in-law, Rick Hutchinson; eleven sisters and three brothers.

Pearl graduated from Stucko High School, located in Coal City, WV, in 1952. She married the love of her life, James, just a short time later on January 8, 1955. Pearl’s working life included being the past owner of Salem Snack Shop, several retail-management positions, and Crest Uniforms. She enjoyed QVC shopping as well as retail therapy at the mall and playing bingo with friends. Above all, she adored her family and friends; her best times were spent with those she loved most.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Allen (Kathy) Harrison; daughter, Sue Hutchison; grandchildren, Seth (Casey), Ben, Sam, and Mandy (Jason); great-grandchildren, Kate and Noah; a very special brother-in-law, Jerry Bush, and well as numerous other relatives and her church family of Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home; a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Brian Gordon officiating. Interment immediately following in Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family extends their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Joseph C. Thomas Center who compassionately cared for her and treated her like family during her time spent as a resident.
