Obituary for Geneva Engle "Genny" Moore (Engle)

A wonderful and kind woman joined her husband and family members who went before her in heaven Saturday, December 12, 2020.

Geneva (Genny) E. Moore had lived 89 full years of life before God took her home last weekend. Genny was a sweet and gentle lady who devoted more than forty years of her life as an American Red Cross volunteer. Many people knew her for the years she volunteered at the Salem Veterans Administration where she provided coffee service, baked birthday cakes for veterans, provided leadership for the American Red Cross, and supported the VA in many other activities. Genny was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, and daughter. In her earlier years she was active in her church and in the Extension Homemakers Clubs.

Genny will be terribly missed by her daughter, Julie Illari; her son-in-law, Roger Illari; her three grandsons, Gianni Illari (wife Delenn), Brienno Illari, (wife Joelle), and Massimo Illari; as well as great-nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Genny was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Moore, Sr.; her son, John (Gil) Moore, Jr.; her mother and father; some siblings; and friends.

The world has lost an amazing spirit, but heaven has truly gained an angel.

We love you and miss you, Mom, Nana, friend.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service while adhering to all current health protocol. Interment will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
