Ethel Frances Vest Peters Sheets, 88, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
She was born on January 5, 1935, in Floyd, Va., to the late Leslie Clarence and Lala Paris Vest. Upon graduating from Check High School, she attended Radford College. She later worked as a bookkeeper for various companies until the age of 81. She was an active member of Fairview United Methodist Church by singing in the choir, participating in the United Methodist Women, and teaching Sunday School. Ethel Frances was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, cook, and seamstress.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her former husband, Curtis Denver Peters; daughters, Carol Peters Reed and Donna Sheets Murdock; and sister, Cigile Martin.
Her surviving family includes her husband, Harold Roger Sheets; daughters, Frances Peters Inge and husband, David, and Dawn Sheets Tolley; grandchildren, Paul Curtis Inge (Dana), Daniel Taylor Inge, Curtis Bryan Reed (Bre), Jason Tyree, Alisa Tyree Downey (Ryan), Michael Hunter Tolley, and Andrew Dylan Tolley; and great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Inge, McKinsey Inge, Kiera Inge, Cohen Downey, and Zavia Tyree.
Ethel Frances’ life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va., with a period of visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m. Entombment will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Tim Gearheart will officiate.
