Obituary for Edna Catherine Reid (Law)

Edna Catherine Law Reid, 79, of Salem went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning after a brief illness. She was born in Hot Springs, Virginia and retired from the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Salem and an avid University of Virginia fan.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, James and Virgie Law, and her husband of nearly 40 years, John Sylvester Reid, Jr.

Surviving are three children: Jeffrey Reid, of Moneta, Renee Thomas, of Moneta and husband Ricky, and Vance Reid of Salem; six grandchildren, Brittany Reid of Roanoke, Braden Reid of Alexandria, Luke Reid of Salem, Alaina Thomas of Moneta, Joshua Thomas and daughter-in-law Makayla Thomas of Callaway; and Elissa Crosby of Salem. Her great-granddaughter, Olivia Claire Thomas also survives.

The family would like to thank Richfield Living for their love and support over the years and have asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to her second family, the Knollwood assisted living community, to be used for general needs.
