Obituary for Dreama Ann Herndon (Flinchum)

Dreama A. Herndon, 70, of Moneta, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by her adoring family. She was born on February 21, 1952. Dreama is preceded in death by her loving mother, Ethel Bishop, stepfather, Ed Bishop and younger sister, Betty Smith.

Nothing made her happier than her hunts for the perfect items at various yard sales, Goodwill's, and antique malls. She could never abandon a sickly plant at any local home and garden store as she felt it her personal responsibility to save all things. She had a name for everything, and her imagination kept her young at heart until her final breath. She had an unmatched sense of humor, and her whimsical nature will be greatly missed for all the years to come.

She was an avid collector from a very young age through the years including, salt n pepper shakers, teddy bears, her prized Blue Willow dishes and collectibles, cherished teddies, nativity sets and her active and ever-growing room of giraffes of all shapes and sizes. Giraffes touched her soul many years back, bringing her an inner peace through their calm, gentle and peaceful natures.

Dreama was an exceptional wife and mother, dedicating her life to her Lord and Savior. She strived to live her life according to God’s Will. She cared deeply for her family, neighbors, church family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Herndon, of Moneta; her daughters, Beth Milliner (Liza), of Portland, OR and Summer Breeze, of Dry Fork, who made up the entirety of her world. Other family remaining to cherish in her memory includes her siblings, Carol Atkins, Bonnie Waldron (Randy), and Danny Flinchum (Judy), all of Vinton; cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in law.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm in Sherwood Memorial Park, 1250 East Main Street Salem, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Grace Memorial Baptist Church at www.gmbcbedford.org, or the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation at www.diabetesresearch.org.
