Obituary for Doris Kime (Huff)

Doris Huff Kime, 95, of Salem, died Friday, June 26, 2020 at Snider Nursing Home.

She was a member of College Lutheran Church. Mrs. Kime was a long-time member of Southern Cross Chapter United Daughter of the Confederacy and was a past president of that organization. She was awarded the Winnie Davis Medal and also the Jefferson Davis Medal by Southern Cross Chapter. Mrs. Kime was made an honorary member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Fincastle Rifles Camp in 1992. She was the author of the book “Poems By A Southern Daughter”. She was also a member of Fort Lewis Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Salem Women’s Club, Lake Spring Garden Club and Salem Historical Society. She was an alumna of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority, Beta Sigma Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Penn Kime, Jr. She was born January 22, 1925 in Roanoke and was the daughter of the late Francis E. Huff and Virginia Huff Ekedal. Mrs. Kime was the granddaughter of the late Dr. I. E. Huff and Flora Frances Huff.

She is survived by her son, Noah B. Butt, IV and daughter-in-law Rita E. Butt of Rockledge, FL; three grandchildren, Mrs. Kimberly Haight of Orlando, FL, Mrs. Leanne Trumble of Cocoa, FL and Steven N. Butt of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by two cousins, Dr. Herbert F. Sanders of Savannah, GA and Mrs. Eugenia Hunter of Goodyear, AZ.

A graveside service will be held at on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at East Hill Cemetery. Reverend Ben Mewald will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Penn, at the conclusion of the service.
