Charles Wilson Lefler, 91, of Salem, VA left this world for a better place in heaven on Thursday, December 1, 2022, peacefully at his home. He was born on January 22, 1931, to the late James Roby and Gertie Hoosier Lefler in Harford County, MD. Mr. Lefler retired from General Electric in Salem in 1991. Mr. Lefler was a member of the Lutheran faith, attending The Church of St. Peter & St. Paul. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Mae Horton; brothers, Pastor James Earnest Lefler, and Joseph Ervin Lefler; and an infant brother, Eddie Walker Lefler.
He is survived by his wife 68 years, Guida Rea Tickle Lefler; daughter, Sabrina Lee and husband, Teddy; grandson, Chess Matthew Lee and wife, Carly; great-grandson, Wilder Chess Lee; great-granddaughter, Lilyan Nora Lee; nieces, Brenda Watson, and Shirley Bazdar, Christine Duran; and other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at the Church of St. Peter & St. Paul, 4909 N Lake Dr, Roanoke, VA 24019, with Rev. Walter Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 – 8 PM on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, and again from 10 AM until the hour of the service at the church.
