Obituary for Joann Nash Johnson

Joann Nash Johnson, 83, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She was born on February 5, 1931 to the late Joseph Doc Nash and Anna Lee (Collier) Nash in Dunham, Ky. She spent her childhood years in Wise, Va prior to moving to Roanoke in 1962 where she would spend her remaining years as a loving wife, mother and homemaker for her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wayne Johnson and son-in-law, Bob Lenz. Family left to cherish her memory include her children, Johnny Johnson and wife, Linda of Salem, Dottie Johnson Lenz of Waskom, Tx, and Rickey Johnson and wife, Mary Anne of Beaufort, Sc; brothers, Roy Nash and R.C. Nash and wife, Helen; sisters, Glenna Cain and husband, Charles, Sheila Embrey and husband Roger, and Carol Nash and friend, Bill Emond; Nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at John M. Oakey & Son funeral home in Salem. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roger Counts officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Burial Park in Roanoke.
