Obituary for Nazimova Holland "Nan" Lee

Print
On January 23, 2019, Nazimova (Nan) Holland Lee peacefully passed away. She was born in Camilla, Georgia in 1923, a daughter of the late Ann and O.C. Holland. She was an alumna of Georgia State College for Women in Valdosta, Georgia.
She was married to the love of her life, Dr. Hugh Edward Lee in Atlanta, Georgia. They enjoyed 67 years together and in her heart, believed they were happier than “any couple on earth.” They grew their family in their beloved Salem, Virginia where she was involved at Salem Baptist Church for 72 years. She loved to play golf, bridge, and she and Hugh always enjoyed a celebration with dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, their infant daughter, Mary Claudia Lee, her sister, Katharine Holland, and her brother, O.C. Holland, Jr.
The foundation of family and love that Nan and Hugh built continues to live on in their children, Elaine (Lainy) Wilhelm and husband Lee, Hugh Edward (Ted) Lee, Jr. and wife Cindy, and Marilyn Thomas and husband Nick. Her beloved grandchildren are Kristin Wilhelm Breakell and husband James, Sanders Lee Wilhelm and wife Angelique, Clinton Russell Thomas and wife Jamie, Mary Holland Thomas and wife Melethia Marshall, Lee Michael Thomas and husband Jason Bell, and Adrienne Beth Lee. Her seven great-grandchildren are Griffin and Copeland Breakell, Emerson and Sanders Lee Wilhelm, Jr. and Lilly, Piper and Avery Thomas. They are so blessed to have known her for many years. Her last years spent with them were filled with fun and laughter each and every visit.
A Memorial service will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Rev Eric Long will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home. An online guest book is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
