Condolences

Condolence From: Karen Silvers Neel
Condolence: I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 2011. He was at the visitation for my father James "Sonny" Silvers. My father was 75 when he passed. Mr. Webb coached my father at Christiansburg High School. We talked about some of the stories from way back then. One of which I heard about all my life. My dad and about 4 others (Rudy Duncan was the only other name I remember) purposely failed their senior year so they could play another year of football. I loved hearing these stories. I loved talking with your Dad, such a pleasant, caring man. My Dad thought a lot of him, he even chose to attend Concord College because of Coach Webb. My Dad would have been pleased and proud to know Coach Webb had come to pay his respects. I know it meant the world to me. My deepest sympathy

Condolence: My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Sam Webb. I knew him from my very young childhood years. My Dad, Ralph Thompson and Sam played baseball together in Blue Ridge. From the time I can remember, Sam was always around. He was a good friend of the Thompson family. My aunt Phyllis called me Saturday morning to tell me of his passing and how they had talked on Friday evening. She kept me informed on how he was doing every time they spoke. I am SURE he was pleased knowing she provided the music for his service. I am betting Sam and my Dad are reminiscing about ALL the ball games they played together. My thoughts are with you. Sandra T. Condolence: My Dad was not only a sweet, positive person, but he became my best friend and mentor. He was a beacon of light and hope in a tumultuous and dark period of maturation. He never offered condemning and negative feedback, but one of hope and perseverance. My world will be a little dimmer, but Heaven will be much brighter. I love you, Dad. Go with God.

Condolence: Sam was a good man and neighbor. Reid and I shared the same cul-de-sac with Sam for 25 years. We considered him part of our neighborhood family. Just like us, Sam had a big heart for dogs, giving a good home to many dogs over the 25 years we lived near him. I will miss Sam. May it bring you comfort to know that Sam's legacy lives on through the Sam Webb Football Center at Ferrum College. I didn't know Sam during his athletic years, but I am aware of what a good athlete he was in several sports and what a good mentor and role model he was to other athletes. My deepest sympathy. Condolence: Sam Webb was our neighbor for nearly 60 years. How our parents loved Mr. Webb! Dad and Sam talked sports, sports, and more sports for decades. My sister and I consider Sam to be so much more than just a neighbor - he was a friend in every sense of that word. We're going to miss our "K-9 conversations" with this very fine and gentle man. Condolences to the entire family. Sam Webb was one in a million.

Condolence: I was saddened to learn of Mr. Webb’s passing. As we are newer to the neighborhood, we have only known him a short time. He introduced himself after we moved in and we have had some nice discussions about his life at Ferum College. I am glad I had a chance to visit with him in Richfield and talk some more. He was a kind and gentle man who accomplished a lot in life. My condolences to his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing.
