William Homer "Bill"  Wade
William “Bill” Homer Wade, 92, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 4, 2018.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific for three years. He was retired from the Norfolk Southern after 40 years of service. Bill was an avid amateur radio operator and his call sign was K4EPO. He also was a member of Roanoke Valley’s Coin and Relic Club where he was able to find treasures with his metal detector.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Wade; two sisters; and one infant brother.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Elsie Louise (Daniel) Wade; sons, William Jeffery “Jeff” Wade and wife, JoAnn, and Steven Eugene Wade and wife, LeAnne; brother, Darden Wade; sister, Margaret Wade; grandchildren, William R. “Billy” Wade and Angela C. “Angie” Wade; and great-grandchildren, Chris Wade and Kimmy Wade.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the funeral home with a committal to follow at Blue Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.
